Original Art by Ray A Schultz "HIS MASTER'S FEET" Pencil on Paper 1980's
From my personal collection, this is an original artwork by Ray A Schultz, aka RAS, entitled by Ray "His Master's Feet". Ray's pieces were used in the early years (1970's 80's) of Advocate Magazine, before they took the smut out (late 80's early 90's?) His work has appeared in many leather and fetish magazines that included artwork like Drummer. It is my understanding that this art was used in one of the Advocate magazines during that period, but I can not verify that at this time. I have been the custodian of this piece since 2005, when I acquired it from Bob Jones, who had an art gallery in San Francisco during the 1980's. I still have the original correspondence which included some personal details regarding Ray, which I will not share here on this forum, as Ray was a personal friend of Bob Jones. The piece is signed and has some color to it, as can be seen in the pictures. Pencil on paper, using 4 colors.
Anyway, the piece measures 20" x 23 1/2" framed and the matted portion measures 13 1/2" x 16 1/2". It was archival matted and framed using a UV protective acrylic front when Bob framed it. I have not changed anything about the piece. The braided looking frame was originally chosen by Bob to match the braided whip used in the picture.
This is a true piece of gay art history. Ray and Bob are both deceased now.
Excellent condition. There is a yellowish rectangle that can be seen about halfway between the knee and the ankle, and a smaller one just above the ankle. I do not now what this is, but it is not on the UV protected acrylic front. There is a nick or two on the frame, which is original to the piece being framed by Bob Jones Art Gallery of San Francisco, c.1980's
